Senior Mechanical Design Engineer job in Hampshire – up to £65k
Hexwired Recruitment is working with an established and growing engineering business based in Hampshire, who are looking to add an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to their engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on the development of technically complex equipment, taking designs from initial concept through to prototype, testing and manufacture.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will have responsibility for delivering robust mechanical designs while collaborating closely with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing and other technical functions.
Key skills required for this Senior Mechanical Design job:
- Develop mechanical designs and assemblies from initial concepts through to manufacture.
- Produce accurate 3D models and detailed 2D engineering drawings.
- Design mechanical components, assemblies, structures and enclosures.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to ensure effective integration of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Support prototype builds, testing, validation and design improvements.
- Liaise with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective to produce.
- Apply design-for-manufacture principles throughout the development process.
- Investigate technical issues and implement appropriate design solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across existing and new products.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering, quality and safety requirements.
Key skills & experience:
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Strong 3D CAD modelling and 2D drawing skills.
- Experience designing fabricated components, assemblies and enclosures.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Experience working with sheet metal and/or machined components.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems incorporating fluid or pneumatic elements.
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
- Good understanding of engineering safety principles and design standards.
- Practical, hands-on approach to engineering, prototyping and problem solving.
Experience with a modern professional 3D CAD package would be advantageous.
The company is offering a salary of up to £65,000, depending on experience, alongside an excellent benefits package.
