Principal Electronics Engineer job in Bedford – £70k – £75k

Hexwired recruitment is recruiting for a global leader in managing and controlling the electromagnetic spectrum, with industry-leading capabilities, who work with governments and companies to build, design and engineer the devices and solutions that connect and protect the world, who are based in Bedford.

The company is expanding to meet the needs of their clients and is seeking a Principal Electronics engineer, ideally with a BEng or BSc in Electronic Engineering or similar, or related skills and experience.

This is a Principal Electronics Engineer role mainly focusing on the full hardware development lifecycle, combining analogue and digital expertise with system-level thinking to create robust, certifiable solutions that operate in the harshest airborne environments.

Key skills:

  • 8+ years practical design experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability embedded systems.
  • Strong background in analogue and mixed-signal circuit design for airborne or harsh environments.
  • Experience with multi-layer PCB design, component selection for aerospace, and high-reliability design principles.
  • Competence in serial interfaces. Including: RS-422, RS-485, SPI, I2C, and MLVDS.
  • Proven experience with LTSpice, PSpice, or equivalent simulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of digital logic, FPGA-based systems, and VHDL (Altera or Xilinx environments).
