Hardware Engineer – Oxford – £65k
Hexwired Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled Hardware Engineer to join one of the UK’s leading electronics manufacturers.
As a Hardware Engineer, Your role will involve delivering assistance across various projects and teams in the design, implementation, testing, and documentation of hardware utilized in our innovative line of compact and lightweight motor controllers.
Key skills required for this Hardware Engineer Job:
- Possession of an electrical engineering degree or equivalent, coupled with demonstrated experience in an electronic design capacity, preferably within the aerospace sector and electric motor drive field.
- Previous track record in designing analog and discrete digital circuits, DC-DC power supply systems, microcontroller interfacing, and various communication protocols (CAN, RS485, Arinc 429).
- Proficiency in circuit simulation, tolerance analysis, component de-rating, stress analysis, and DFMEA (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
- Expertise in PCB layout design, including the ability to review and comprehend design guidelines.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with effective collaboration capabilities enabling seamless teamwork.
- Prior experience utilizing ECAD design tools, such as Altium Designer, SIMetrix Spice simulator, MATLAB, or equivalent software.
- Previous exposure to EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) design and compliance testing.
- Interaction with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant aerospace standards, with a preference for familiarity with standards like D0-254 and AMC 20-152A, and proficiency in IEC 62239-1 (ECMP) and IPC standards, including IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC-D-279, and IPC-CM-770E.
